Roadtrip 2014: Vancouver - Yakima - Boise - Provo - Flagstaff - Tucson - Palm Springs - Paso Robles - Sacramento - Eureka - Bandon - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 14 - Highway 83 and Empire Ranch

Ain't nuthin' like shoppin' at the Grant-Stone.

Looks like Tucson's experiment with midget police cruisers manned by midget police is headed for the bin.

One day after a rain, the desert blooms.

Empire Ranch is open to visitors. Some days, you just gotta give in, forget about government conspiracies and make landscape pictures.

Hard to resist making a few photos when the skies offer up this much drama.

Emma takes up the guard position - she wonders if we're really serious that we expect her to supervise this entire valley.

Guess that's what you call 20% chance of showers.

Russ re-loads film - not a moment to waste.

This cloud is planning some serious mayhem.

The giant clouds demand attention.

Emma waits on the scrape. Photography is boring.

"At last!!" exclaims angry truck - "you've found me some dirt!"

Just a guy and his boler.

Today's dirt road. It crosses many dry washes, and we're hoping none of those clouds sees fit to turn our drive into a wade.

Emma finds this part particularly boring.

What you can do with a full barn conversion.

Them's the Border Patrol's fleet. Really.
